Shotokan Instructors' Classes :: Saturday, April 26, 8-10:30am
Apr-16-08 14:58
Due primarily to a very hectic schedule, I have not
been able to schedule the instructor classes as often
as I would like. Better few than none, though. The
next one is set for Saturday, 7/26, 8:00-10:30am, in
Redwood City.
These are open to all Shotokan black belts and also now any 1st kyu brown belts who have teaching responsibilities. Non-Shotokan black belts may be accepted as well, providing we are not doing very "Shotokan-specific" training such as kata. Please feel free to tell others about this event but be aware that this is "invitation only." Basically, any legitimate Shotokan black belt with interest in improving his/her teaching skills is welcome. The focus of these sessions is on making us better instructors. For more info:
http://www.jkasv.com/dojo/events/instructorstraining.html
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in leading a section and, if so, what you are interested in doing and how long you would want to take.
For examples of previous session topics, please see the following (the last few sessions have yet to be added to the list):
http://www.jkasv.com/dojo/events/pastinstructorstraining.html
Please let me know if you have any questions or requests.
I look forward to seeing you soon.

"The ULTIMATE Shotokan Karate training opportunity!"
Would you like to go to Japan to train at Shotokan's source?
Don't speak Japanese? Too expensive and time-consuming?
If you could roll together the best of training in Japan over the past
50 years and have it described, explained and demonstrated to you in
English, how interested would you be in that?
For the third time, a total of over a dozen instructors, all of whom lived and trained in Japan, will come together to teach as a collective unit. This event will involve 15 to 20 instructors teaching a total of 47 seminars over a 5-day period. Many of these instructors trained directly with Nakayama Sensei prior to his passing in 1987. Most lived in Japan for many years and have gained experiences that may be invaluable to your own training. The Hoitsugan Seminars have set a new standard of excellence. This event is a must for all those serious about improving their ability in and understanding of Shotokan.
Some of our Elite Instructors Include:
Richard Amos • Michael Berger • Vincent Cruz • Gary Friederich •
Aaron Hoopes • Jon Keeling • Steve Ubl • James Yabe

SKIF 10th Annual Celebration
Jan-26-08 18:25
SKIF
will be celebrating Kanazawa Kancho's 77th birthday
and SKIF's 30th anniversary in Tokyo, October 23-25,
2008.
Please contact Sensei Jay by February 15th, if you plan on attending.
If we have at least 20 people, including family/friends, I can coordinate a group trip with Japan Air Lines. With JAL, we can each travel to Japan on different days, so you can add days before or after the SKIF events to best meet your individual travel needs/interests.
I know that this would be a big use of your precious vacation time. This is also a major karate event and celebration, the magnitude of which we may not experience again in our lives. I hope you can make the trip. j

Sensei Murakami Seminars :: Updated
Jan-16-08 09:20
Sensei
Manabu Murakami, Director of the International
Division of Shotokan Karate-do International
Federation, will be teaching seminars at the CNC on
Tuesday, January 22, and Sunday, January 27. Many of
you already know that Murakami Sensei is a
multiple-time World Champion and an extremely
proficient technician. In my opinion, his techniques
reflect Kanazawa Kancho's teaching more than anyone
else's in the world. We're very fortunate to be able
to host Murakami Sensei given SKIF's 120 member
countries and 1000's of training locations, so I
encourage everyone to attend his seminars. -j
